2038: Solveig leads her team to China to assemble with Deng AnDe and his team an artificial general intelligence. She faces dilemmas of politics and gender; he faces loyalty issues. Learning she’s not the only skeptic on the project, she must decide: ferret out the dissenters, or side with them. He’s caught between conflicting orders; she must make sure she won’t help create a powerful new weapon.
