Alice, or, The Mysteries

A young woman, escaped from her criminally-minded father, finds kindness in Ernest Maltravers. During their brief time together, Alice and Ernest fall in love, only to be separated by a kidnapping. The mysteries include how how the two will find each other and the strange role of the supernatural.
