Read OnlineIt's 2037, and DNA is just another code base . . .
"Canada's PM briefed the world today. The gold-platinum obelisk that lit up the sky in Saskatchewan is alien and appears to warn of an impending attack. Citizens of the world are urged to stay calm and not let the news further inflame interspecies tensions."
It's hard to define the human race in 2037 that includes human variants or "varints" with embedded chips, gene drive tech, and in-body mechanicals.
Peter (the talent), Molli (the kung fu expert and audio engineer), and Ears (the clipper varint) are running their science podcast from Cambridge, Mass, the world's apex of genetic, nano, and AI tech. Ratings suck, so they spice-up the podcast with experts who have very different views on responding to the pending alien invasion. Sounds innocent enough. . .
Little do they understand that the divisions between classes of humans were peaking before the obelisk arrived, and now it's off the charts. Danger grows with each interview - Poison Paul offers a global poison pill of alien deterrence, BioEthel suggests we should let tech run unfettered and let the superior classes win, OmniBev presses for human/animal interbreeding - and that's just three of the dozen.
In this time of global tension and fear, not everyone is nice in the sandbox, and survival gets very ugly, very quickly. Find out whether Peter, Molli, and Ears can escape the chaos and calamity.
(Typical sci-fi leaps of faith are cast aside in this novel, as all tech described are available now or readily conceivable).
