Kongo is the coming of age story of Ekanga Lohembe, the rebellious princess from a cursed indigenous tribe in the Democratic Republic of Congo. The Kimoni and Asha tribes have been cursed for several millennials by a majestic spirit that waits for them to learn the true definition of love. Ekanga hails from the Kimoni Tribe and refuses to conform to any of its rules and customs. She is constantly scolded by her family who worries about her curiosity about the outside world. After mistakenly leading the enemy troops into her village, Ekanga is banished from the tribe forever. For three years, Ekanga resides in Bukavu, hundreds of miles away from home. Here, she meets afro-European Kashuan Jones, a foreign exchange student from London, England searching for ways to pay off his student loans.
