stars, what drives us deep from within are still monkey-instincts. The aloof female of the species just has to give the smallest whiff of hope to send male suitors hurling themselves bodily into the fray.
A crazy thought has occurred to me, and I think I’m going to ask her to come with me. I’ve been doing a lot of thinking lately as I go about the tasks too menial for the droids running this place, thinking about my life and what I am doing with the precious little time I have left. I need to do something constructive, and I mean real world constructive.
Another letter from the Administrators today, things are looking a little more positive and it looks like I might have my conviction overturned and I’ll be allowed back into the system.
However, the more I think about it, the more I’m decided that I’m not staying – I’m going to back planetside. Getting out of orbit it easy, it's normally people queueing to get away from earth that's the problem. I'm sure I'd get a sizeable payout for quitting my post here.
Sure, Earth is hell at the moment, but it’s a huge place. Surely not everywhere is over-run by a dictatorial government, food shortages and riots. There have to be lands of peaceful folk, where one can plant some seeds and raise some livestock and drink from streams. To go from dreaming of earth to actually being there; it feels right.
I’m going to ask her to join me, to forsake this world of dreams. The world that I once lived and craved, the world that I now see is false. We are all wasting our time consuming computer generated worlds, our minds and bodies the puppets of machines we have created, all the time growing older and weaker. When I die what legacy will my life leave?
Do I think she’ll seriously consider it? Probably not. But I’m going to try.
This will be my last entry. It’s been about a week since I wrote, so much has happened so fast but I don't have time to write it all down. The droids will be here any minute.
Ok, quick summary; my case has been reviewed and overturned, I'm allowed back into the sims! I don’t have time to give a run-down of the details, maybe later, but to summarise, I told her my planetside thoughts. How I was considering giving up the life of a Dreamer and going back to ground level reality. Of course, she was pretty surprised at first, especially when I asked her to join me. I can't believe I found the courage to do that!
She didn't exactly agree, but we talked and found a compromise. Bottom line (and I can't contain my excitement to explain more), she said yes!
So we’re off planetside together! I can hardly believe it. Together, a new life, on planet Earth. Sure, it’s going to be tough, but ultimately rewarding.
My doorbuzzer just rang, got to go, my pod's ready.
Nuova Earth.
